If you’ve ever dreamed of traveling to Narnia or Middle Earth, you need to lose yourself in Earthsea. In A Wizard of Earthsea, Le Guin spins the tale of a young boy called Sparrowhawk (but truly named Ged) with enormous magical potential, who would grow into the greatest wizard his archipelago world has ever known, if he can only manage to conquer his inner demons. On a bet, Ged performs an illegal magical move that unleashes a deadly shadow intent on destroying first him, and then everyone else. While fleeing for his life across across the islands of Earthsea, Ged seeks the true name of the shadow, for only then will he be able to control it.
